Post subject: Survey: Synesthesia and being a psy freak: AKA Seeing Music

I am going to officially make this a topic and an informal poll and survey.
I have a very well developed case of synesthesia in which I am able to actually see music in colors, shapes, and images. I can also sense the feel of music in a literal sense. Warm sounds actually cross over my senses and I can feel them, as well as cold sounds, dark sounds, light sounds, richness of the sound as an actual feeling, and all sorts of secondary sensations such as taste and smell of sounds.
This condition has been well documented in a number of psy artists, DJs, and avid listeners of the various genres of psychedelic music and mind expanding styles of music.
Under various psychedelic chemicals and substances, this state can be reached but with a large number of people I talk too, there is some kind of synesthesia being experienced well beyond the time frame and guidance of any outside psychedelic influence or reaction.
I am just curious as to how many people here on Triplag have something that takes them beyond the normal musical experience and transcends into a trip and conscious experience much greater than music alone could provide.
I spin every set I publicly share with the help and guidance of some form of psychedelic substance, even if it is only something as mild as marijuana. I find that I tend to make sets that are much more mind expanding and elevating when I am able to completely focus on the overall experience of the trip I am sharing with the people listening to it.
I have actually become the music and started flowing out of the speakers and traveling around the room. That night I actually could see myself pouring out of all the speakers and also could see this really weird guy DJing. I suddenly realized that I was the weird guy spinning and snapped back into my body, but that was the first time I had ever fully experienced the truly stunning and overwhelming effects of full blown synesthic abilities.
Many artists and DJs I talk to about synesthetic experiences are not even aware that it is an actual ability they have always had but never realized others did not have it.
BTW- I just spun for 12 hours on Ibogaine, and I have started to post them on the chill forum. The Dub set is when I was at the peak of the Iboga experience and I think it comes across into the DJ set in a most wonderful way.
Long winded story now over, I wait for responses.

Well, my obsession with psy trance at all started from an experience when i had some vibrations in what i later knew was chakra, so it was not only feeling, but experiencing the music and energy. So for me, good music is which transmits energy of its creator(s) to listeners and the Universe.
I believe synaesthetic experiences are coming strictly from energy flow and perception of that energy.
What comes to substances, they add different types of perception, so same track may be experienced with great difference, depending on state of consciosness.

I am trying to find it linked on the internet, because I have a long term study on synesthic experiences and the way it relates to being able to have deep trancelike states and shamanistic and religious states brought on to a fuller extent by having some form of the synesthesia.
They studied a lot of the very ancheint cultures that still practiced achieving very deep states of meditation or tried to achieve a shamanic state of mind.
They found in one part of the study that people who were able to achieve the deepest trances and also a large majority of the mystics and fakirs in India had a highly tuned state of synesthic ability.
Music or some form or rythmic chanting or singing plays a very important role in most cultures who practice all the diverse shamanic and tribal rituals and higher states if conciousness and seeking devine truths and knowledge.
Many of the Tibetan monks also seem to have a very developed set of extra sensory perceptions or gifts.
I am very interested in synchronizing tone and colour too. This theme includes a wide variety of scientifical theories and synestesia is only a small field of all that.
I started to deal with synestesia during the time when i got to know the theory of the Cosmic Octave. This theory says that we can take any frequence of the spectrum that a human cannot see or hear and then transpose it ( multiply the frequence two times in order to get exactly the next octave) till we find a frequence that is within the spectrum. So with this theory ppl can take a frequence like 0,0000000000000000023 which is for instance a frequence of a planet rotating once in many many seconds. An then you transpose to a higher octave.
The same thing with notes. Imagine you have a note of 440 hertz. If you use the theory of the cosmic octave then you can get a synchronised frequence for a colour out of a frequence of a note.
So out of 440 hertz which is the note A you can get 483,79 Billion Herz which is the colour yellow orange!! The idea is that the note A fits to the colour yellow orange in the same way like the note A would fit to a note A from the next octave! Do you follow my thought?:)
So this is the way how you can mathematically get coulours out of notes that are frequently on the same level...
Since i began dealing with visuals i am trying to see the connection between colours and notes and i always think in colours if i hear music. I wouldnt call it synastesia cause it is more mentally and intelectually than sensorically but anyway i am very interested in this connection. i have watched many films on synestesia that only proove this cosmic connection...
Always see music. It is a multidimensional object of course with textures and colors depending on its well... textures and colors . To me NOT seeing music is a phenomena

ah cool, i did not know this discussion. i will read it and check what the people are writing about. although there are quite a lot of books on that, it would be very interesting to check what trancers have to say about it.

i b'live that it all depends on the kinda atmoSfear the scene is happenin... i remember my 1st xxxperience with darkpsy 3 yrs ago where in i felt my senses come alive.... but i must add that it strictly depends on the muzik n only muzik.... one can feel elation n power even on some slower mornin psy but some1 else might get the same feelin only on darker soundzzzzz...... but basically itzzz all in the atmoSfear.....
and btw ( not sure if someone here is interested in the depth at all, but if yes) here some resourses on synaestesia which are useful vor ppl interested in the details further beyond the usual discussions in internet forums.

I`m now when, if a substance, and if add a bit of imagination, then under the Forestpsy it seems to me that in a forest of broken branches and dark places satan asleep and talking in his sleep, and produces various creaking sounds. Yes! This is the Forest indeed! But when I`m listening "Blisargon Demogorgon" eg. like his music, it seems that this is a dwarven cave full of shining different rubies, sapphires and other gems and it`s glitter of the fire plumes. So it`s rubie psy...like it!
but in general often, when no substance, different fractals and visualization as "G-forсe" i see
btw i discussed the topic about the cosmic octave thorougly and comppletely in this thread in isratrance above.
it was a nice tip, not because i learned something new ( i didnt, i even had to explain to them bacis things about what is the right tuning frequence and why and how to get it with the pitch and how much cent it is). but the topic showed me the desperately ridiculous basics of the trance scene. they have no f@#king clue about music theory. even i , as someone who only plays piano and doesnt release tracks, just plays as a toy, know more than the so called artists do.
i have now completely no bad thoughts about downloading their tracks for free. i mean why should i support them and their life, THEY HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT MUSIC THEORY even!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so they are the musicians, they are the stars! forget it!!!!!!!!!!! they just have a f@#king normal job to do, at saturday night, like anyone else working on saturday night, like a barman or whatever. i mean no no no, it is not so easy to be a musician and in the trance scene many people wanna be that. but they are not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so simple and obvious. their tracks will not even slightly stay in the history. they sound the same. the are boring. they are repeating it!!!!!!!!!!! so i am not paying. i will pay for their job on saturday night, if at all.
i am talking now about the majority, i think you got my idea. of course there are also a lot great artists. but i am talking about the majority. forget simply. do your job without big pretentions of being the next bethoven or brian adams or whatever other world star. you are not. you are doing a f@#king normal job on saturday night.

hm, progressive head too. full on too. actually anyone. i cant look at their attitude any more. about triplag i cant speak a lot because we are mostly connected through cyber doors, but i definitely have the impression that i am talking to more earth centered beings here, to frriends, or ppl who could be friends if we see... i cantt stand high nosed ppl. with big pretentions to be stars. in such a small community as the trance community, it is just funny. and even if you are well paid , it doesnt make you a star. you are just well paid.
but this is an off topic right now:). ,) but i am still absolutely mad about the cosmic octave, i am fanatic about it. i think this is the most incredible theory in the history of mankind. the synchronisation of music, colours and mathematics as the language of nature. the language of god
This is a video i used to see when i was a little boy, it's a donald duck video about mathematics and the golden section/rectangle wich can be seen in the music, nature and art. It's somehow related to the synergicity.
I have to disagree with u timewavezero, because talent is very different from knowledge, there where in history so many artists from music to painting etc wich take their full life perfecting their art,even if they didn't had any knowledge about the state of the art. So it ends to be paradigmatic.
For me the problem is what people want and see from art, if someone in the "scene" want's to be a star, and if actually get's the "bonuses" of a star it's because there's audiance to that, and this shows that the scene itself is rotting because and deviating from the intent of respect, tolerance, knowledge,sustainability.
I'm a listener not a producer, actually i never played(well enough to be called play) any instrument in my entire life, when im gathered with my friends, i grab 2 bottles and clash them into eachother to contribute to the sound it's being played. And those random gatherings that some random night happen were the moments i most record in my life, and yet half of us don't know anything about music, although we don't ask for money either. What i meant with this is that the problem is that in the "scene" everything is about the f@#king money and that's what we should fight, if people give credit to stars is because they have interests or because they cant thinck for them selves. I'm sicking tired of going to parties and whatch people whoi just want to get the more drug they can handle, just go to parties becvause it's in fascion...If people isn't mentally prepared because we live in a profoundly sick society how do expect to stop that to happen???not buying their music??? well thats a start but i believe there is a lot of people who make music wich have good intentions and thats we need to support first.
