Hi!
I've got a question about mixing with ableton.
My problem is, when I record during a mix the volume of the tracks differs very much in a way I become aware of when the mix is already recorded. During the mixing it sounds ok to me but when I listen to the mix later there are bad 'volume jumps' in it.. So I read through hundreds of articles but the problem is still far from being solved. My question is: do you prepare your mp3s (or wav's) before you mix them in some way? I tried to use mp3 gain but that sounded wrong to me. Then I tested many different effects (like limiter, normalizer, compressor ect.) on the audio tracks and on the master as well but there were always some bad side effects...

are you recording external gear? are the jumps only in volume? is the sound glitching? you have any automation track that alters some parameter you may have forgot about?

Thanks, but I already solved the problem mainly by using another crossfader curve.
I was surprised that it was that simple--
